Prada is opening a new shop designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi inside Paris’s Printemps department store.
The undertaking of this new store highlights the Prada Group’s strategy for strong investment in France, which is considered one of the key international markets for the brand.
The new space inside Printemps is Prada’s largest shop within a department store and emphasizes the brand’s continuing interest in this type of retail.
The store covers a total surface area of approximately 140 square metres on a single level and is dedicated to men’s and women’s bags and accessories.
The façade of the shop has been designed as a generous storefront, constructed out of backlit translucent resin, which looks into the department store.
Black marble thresholds featuring the Prada logo enhance the two prominent entrances, which are crowned by clerestory windows decorated with polished steel figures.
The store spans across a single space with walls upholstered in the traditional Prada green canvas and floors laid with beige carpet. Both the store’s backdrops and display furniture are clad in passages of smoked mirrors in which the product is showcased, creating a strong visual impact.
The extensive use of reflective surfaces and a considered manipulation of direct and indirect light sources widen the space and diffuse soft light to enrich the display of the product.
The design is completed by display cases in polished steel with ivory ‘saffiano’ leather details.
