A plant, with a mouth-shaped flower, whose roots go down into the earth: this image was conceived by Fabrica, Benetton's creative lab, upon invitation by Unesco, in order to celebrate the International Mother Language Day on 21st February.
The message is clear: mother language is a delicate flower with ancient, deep roots that has to be protected and celebrated, because the cultural identity of groups and individuals develop from it. For this reason miltilingualism and cultural diversity are key elements that have to be preserved for the sustainable development of both local and global culture.
This message goes back to some of the central concepts of Fabrica: consideration of the rest of the world, respect for the diversity and equality of all cultures.
Fabrica was chosen as Design Sponsor for the Unesco International Days.
This image is the first step of a co-operation which will continue into the future.
