Dolce&Gabbana announces that the first six styles of the MDG sunglass collection will be available to buy on line exclusively on the web site www.dolcegabbanaboutique.com/MDG from May 2010.
The collection will be also available at all the Dolce&Gabbana boutiques and best opticians from June.
MDG is the first sunglass collection personally designed by Madonna in collaboration with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The collection marks Madonna’s first foray into the world of eyewear and it is manufactured by Luxottica.
Models range from cat-eyes sinuous shapes to the more modern wraparound masks with slightly squared contour. The distinctive feature of the collection is the laser-engraved MDG logo on the outside of the temple, with the letter M engraved in tiny raised stars.
Madonna is also the face of the MDG advertising campaign. Shot in New York by Steven Klein, the campaign features Madonna as the mysterious and sensual star of a noir film caught on camera in company of the super model Tyson Ballou.
To lend a cinematographic feel, the campaign was shot with a video camera and the snapshots appear s frames of a short film while the layout of the prints recalls that of an old-fashioned movie film.
