Il Gesto Sospeso: A tribute exhibition to the renowned master of fashion: Roberto Capucci and to his garment sculptures.
Altaroma opens its fashion week with a tribute to one of the most revered names of Italian and international fashion: Roberto Capucci. Tradion meets the avant-garde. The opening of the multi-media installation ‘Il Gesto Sospeso’ by the artist Maurizio Martusciello in collaboration with Mattia Casalegno, ideally represents the cultural synthesis of the new direction undertaken by Altaroma. Hadrian’s Temple will host this fusion between art and fashion through the use of an interactive setting inspired by the garment sculptures of this renowned master.
“I knew Maurizio Martusciello as a composer and creator of images and colours and I immediately liked his work” – Capucci remembers. – “The meeting took place in 2004 during an event organized by the Department of Culture of the municipality of Rome at the Oratory of Santa Rita entitled ‘I corpi invisibili: Acqua e Fuoco’ (“Invisible bodies: Water and Fire”) at which two of my creations ‘Fire’ and ‘Ocean’ were on display amidst the sound architecture created by him and the perfumes by Lorenzo Villoresi” commented Roberto Capucci when talking about the artist.
,“From that day onwards our relationship was characterized by a growing friendship and reciprocal esteem, he then went on to comment “and I am very happy that thanks to Altaroma and to Silvia Venturini Fendi it has been possible make this magnificent project, about which we talked, a reality. In the 'Gesto sospeso' he expresses all his mastery, his compositions move and are transformed. Original, magnificent images emerge from the details and from the details of photos and film images, moving objects, flowers, butterflies, an outstanding series of evocative creations”.
Silvia Venturini Fendi: “Capucci’s creative methodology, a link since the very beginning between fashion and art, is the important reference background of the future that I would like to see implemented in Rome. And it is for this reason that I chose this exhibition as the inaugural event”.
