“Maison Franco Litrico and Fabio Quaranta, winner of Who is On Next? Uomo 2010 together for an exhibition – workshop of High-Class Sartorial Craftsmanship entitled JFK. The archive of Maison Litrico and, in particular, one of the jackets that its founder, Angelo, made for John Fitzgerald Kennedy during his visit to Rome in July, 1963 refashioned by the contemporary creativity of Fabio Quaranta. An icon garment re-invented with all the knowledge of artisan tradition and the know-how of a contemporary talent”.
From the historic archive of Maison Litrico, the heritage of sartorial tradition of excellence. An icon garment made in 1963 by the founder of the maison “Just for Kennedy”, during John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s visit to Rome. Not only for the American President, a statesman ‘magister elegantiarum’ but also for the private JFK: a courageous soldier and an American citizen boasting proud Irish Catholic roots.
The jacket with three buttons, shown in the photo signed by the President, a classic completed by a pair of trousers and a traditional Dinner Jacket. Two of the most classic pieces of men’s outerwear, refashioned by the creativity of Fabio Quaranta who reinterprets and applies the personality of JFK to the garments custom-made by sartoria Litrico, using the skills handed down from generation to generation.
In short, though respecting the canons of high-class craftsmanship, the designer revisits shapes and materials.
Describing the public man through the outside of his garments but also revealing the inner part, i.e. the private man.
Not only unique in terms of manufacture but also in the application of the materials because they tell the story of a man.
The lining of one jacket is made from an original ‘60’s US army jacket.
Another lining is obtained from an original American flag with hand-applied stars. The aim being to underline the private side of each one of us, even that of a legend like JFK. Like the lining of a jacket, an intimate aspect which only the person wearing it knows about …….a tribute to JFK... garments that are JFK.
