The new Dilek Hanif Haute Couture collection evokes the supremely feminine aesthetic and experimental-romantic vision of Lillian Bassman, American painter and photographer who inspires the designer for a sequence of creations that become snapshots in black & white of a sophisticated and modernly classic elegance.
The dualism of masculine/feminine pervades silhouettes and materials, finding the maximum expression in exquisite inflections of black & white, duotone par excellence of the season.
Sartorial jackets of various length have important shoulders, precise structures, to underscore the contrast with wonderfully light cocktail and evening dresses. In a recherché interplay of pure lines and charming softnesses.
Timeless dresses, imbued with a Hollywood glamour, feature tone on tone Ottoman motif embroidery, fur insert and sheer fabric edging, to give new definition to satin crepe, lace and silk taffeta.
Shapes alternate between bustier constructions with sensual low-cut necklines and skirts long or just above the knee, lusciously fluid of form or delicately rich in flounces, gathers and pleats.
Dilek Hanif dedicates her creations to a cultured and independent woman unmindful of absolute fashion dictates, for style and sense of luxury are expressions of an inner grace that comes through in the image of a refined and ever distinctive elegance.
It’s a collection revisiting Turkish Ottoman culture - rich in symbols and contrasts - with a smooth minimal touch through a creative vision where Western influences reminiscent of architectural decors in Istanbul are infused with utter sartorial prowess in the unmistakable Eastern inspirations.
The presentation of the Fall/Winter 2010-2011 Haute Couture collection also offers a unique occasion for Dilek Hanif to announce her latest collaboration in the realm of art. Upon invitation, she will be participating – with an exclusive selection of designs - in the “Istanbul Fashion” exhibition to take place at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst (Applied Arts) in Cologne, Germany, from November 6, 2010 to January 30, 2011.
