Upgrades and subsequent reinterpretations make them more and more up-to-dated and further consecrate the role that time and popularity have assigned to them.
With this idea, Italo Fontana, designer of U-BOAT, presents 4 Chimera watches, respectively in naturally aged bronze and 316L steel versions, celebrating one of the most recognisable designs of the brand from Lucca.
With chronograph and time-only functions, in a limited edition of 500 pieces for each of the four versions, the new Chimera models feature the characteristic patented system for easy extraction of the crown for date and time adjustment.
Under the upper domed sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective treatment, we find in the chronograph version a dial with four laser-cut counters with a lower part in sapphire crystal while for the time-only version, one also laser-cut with the counter of the 24 hours only and with the lower part in brushed metal. The date windows at 9 o’clock differ in shape and size depending on the type of dial.
On the back of the case, fastened to the bezel through 5 external tie rods with personalised key, that guarantee water resistance up to 100 meters, a U-shaped window with a flat sapphire crystal allows a view of the skeletonised rotor and the customised and modified movement according to U-BOAT specifications.
To complete the style of the new Chimera watches, a lasered strap in naturally aged leather, made and sewn by hand in Tuscany using traditional crafts techniques, brown for the bronze models and black for the steel ones.
The Chimera collection is enriched with four new models, a chronograph and a time-only watches available in both aged bronze and steel, which will hold high the flag of a design that has always embodied the character and identity of U-BOAT and now a timeless icon of the brand in the world.
